It's official: the 2027 HYROX World Championships will be held in Hong Kong, at AsiaWorld-Expo, from 10 to 13 June 2027. A first in Asia-Pacific, and a homecoming. Venue, dates, qualification: everything we know.
HYROX flies to Asia
The 2026 World Championships in Stockholm had barely wrapped when HYROX revealed the next host of its showpiece event. And it's a dream destination: the 2027 World Championships will be held in Hong Kong, at AsiaWorld-Expo, from 10 to 13 June 2027. For the first time in its history, the HYROX world final leaves the West to land in Asia-Pacific.
This isn't a scheduling accident, it's a statement. And for anyone who races HYROX, it already sets a target on the horizon: a whole season to try to earn a ticket to Victoria Harbour.
Hong Kong, a homecoming
Hong Kong was chosen partly out of memory. It was here, in 2022, that HYROX set up its stations for the very first time in Asia, in front of fewer than 1,000 competitors. Four years later, the sixth Hong Kong edition, in May 2026, drew nearly 20,000 participants: a twentyfold jump that alone sums up the format's explosion across the continent.
Bringing the world final back to where it all began in Asia is what HYROX calls a "full-circle" moment. "Hosting our 2027 season finale in Hong Kong is a historic step forward," said Christian Toetzke, co-founder and CEO of HYROX, underlining the sport's rapid growth in the region.
Venue, dates and big ambition
So the date is set: AsiaWorld-Expo, the vast exhibition centre next to Hong Kong International Airport, from 10 to 13 June 2027. The event has heavyweight institutional backing: Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism, welcomed the decision, and Peter Lam, chairman of the Hong Kong Tourism Board, recalled that the city sees itself as the "Events Capital of Asia." In short, the 2027 final will go big on spectacle.
After Las Vegas, Manchester, Nice, Chicago and then Stockholm, Hong Kong becomes the sixth host city of the World Championships, and the first outside Europe and North America. The format itself doesn't change: eight one-kilometre runs, eight stations, and the same demands for everyone.
How to earn your ticket to Hong Kong
Spots are scarce: only the planet's best will make the trip. Qualification will play out across the entire 2026/27 season, on the circuit's races, and HYROX will soon confirm the exact qualification calendar and ticketing. Worth noting: the coming season ushers in a revamp of the elite structure (the Majors are gone, a new Elite Race Series arrives, and qualification now runs on a points system). We'll dig into that in a future article, but one thing is certain: the road to Hong Kong starts this autumn.
From Stockholm to Hong Kong: HYROX goes global
This move to Asia tells the story of just how big HYROX has become. Over the 25/26 season, the circuit gathered more than 1.5 million finishers across roughly 95 cities, and the 2-million mark is expected next season. A format born in a German gym in 2017, turned in a few years into a global phenomenon now staged on five continents.
Stockholm, in June 2026, closed the season with an unexpected American double in the singles and breathtaking elite finals. We covered those World Championships in detail here. The next chapter will be written on the shores of Victoria Harbour.
The French angle: the road runs through autumn
For French athletes dreaming of Hong Kong, the message is clear: it all starts at the back-to-school season. The 2026/27 season kicks off in France in the autumn, with Bordeaux (late September), Nice, then the Paris Winter GP in December. So many chances to chase points and aim for the very top of the rankings.
The French scene is on the rise: in Stockholm, the Toulouse duo Xavier Dufour and Martin Lecorgne became the first all-French pair to qualify for the Elite 15. Xavier Dufour's journey, from pentathlon to the World Championships, is well worth a read. Hong Kong 2027 could well be the next stop for the French.
